or MS. Whatever the cause, the result is a life and a lifestyle
that has changed. We can help. The Acute Rehabilitation Unit is
a specialized, inpatient program staffed with medical professionals
who are trained to maximize the quality of life for every patient.
We want you to return home with as much independence as possible.
What to expect of us.
Expect us to provide an interdisciplinary team working together
to get the best out of you. Your team encompasses comprehensive
services that include:
- Rehabilitation medicine
- Rehabilitation nursing
- Occupational, physical and speech therapies
- Social work
- Psychological counseling
- Spiritual counseling
What to expect of yourself.
Expect to work hard with your team as they deliver a treatment
plan designed to give you every opportunity to make a comeback
- to return home and start living with as much independence as
possible. Some physical and mental activities or conditions that
we can help make better:
- Balance and coordination
- Eating and swallowing
- Getting in and out of bed
- Grooming, bathing and dressing
- Homemaking
- Memory and judgment impairment
- Speech and language difficulties
- Weakness in arms, legs, or trunk
What your family can expect of us.
Family education and training is an important part of our program.
It helps patients return home with a support team of people they
know and trust. Some examples of things we can show and teach you:
- Methods to conserve energy
- Therapeutic exercises
- Use of adaptive equipment
- Adjusting to a life that has changed
- Managing medical complications
We'll also help you prepare for ongoing care and rehabilitation
once you leave the hospital.
What to do next.
We welcome referrals from doctors, social workers, family members,
insurance representatives, case managers and patients. The Acute
