Curriculum Overview
"...The overall curriculum provides the nursing student with a comprehensive professional nursing education while providing a variety of clinical experiences..."
The nursing curriculum is organized congruently with the philosophy and goals of the program. The educational program is two years in length and provides the student with twenty-seven college credits and forty-five nursing credits. There are two defined levels of progression throughout the program, corresponding with two academic years, with specific objectives to be accomplished. The specific program schedule for each nursing course includes classroom theory with correlated clinical laboratory instruction.
A specific ratio of classroom theory and clinical laboratory experience is consistently maintained throughout the program. The overall curriculum provides the nursing student with a comprehensive professional nursing education while providing a variety of clinical experiences at Ohio Valley General Hospital and other affiliating institutions. Clinical hours are scheduled primarily throughout the day; however, some evening or night hours may be required. The school reserves the right to make adjustments in the curriculum plan as necessary to accomplish program goals.
