Sleep Lab Expands

Ohio Valley General Hospital Sleep Lab Expands Services.
Less wait time for appointments and faster results.

Ohio Valley General Hospital's Sleep Evaluation Center will be expanding their services to accommodate more patients and to allow for additional studies and treatments.

Beginning January 1, 2010, The Sleep Evaluation Center will be expanding their services to be operational six nights a week, which will result in less of a wait time for appointments and faster sleep study results. The sleep lab will be open Sunday through Friday.

The Sleep Evaluation Center conducts overnight sleep studies in a state-of-the-art sleep lab to determine if patients have sleep apnea or another sleep disorder.  All Ohio Valley sleep technicians are licensed and trained in sleep medicine.

Many types of sleeping disorders and related breathing disorders can disrupt sleep. Through the use of a sleep study, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, or sudden, uncontrollable sleep episodes called narcolepsy can be diagnosed and successfully treated.

The sleep study is a painless and comfortable experience. A sleep technician connects various monitoring devices to the patient's head, face, chest, stomach and legs. The sensors are applied so the patient can turn and move during sleep.

After the sleep study, an Ohio Valley Hospital sleep technician evaluates the patient's sleep patterns and provides a personalized and thorough treatment program.
